Malawi Facts

Facts about Malawi
Point England did you know that the population of Malawi is 16,777,547 also that the president is a woman her name is Joyce Hilda Banda the first ever female to become president. The country is also nicknamed The Warm Heart of Africa. Its capital is Lilongwe, which is also Malawi's largest city.

The Children
For every 100.000 births in Malawi, 808 mothers die of diseases such as HIV and malaria pregnancy during and childbirth.  The symptoms of malaria include fever, chills, headache and muscle pain. To get malaria you would have to get bitten by an infected mosquito which can lead to death. The  symbol for solidarity with HIV-positive people and those living with AIDS is a red ribbon

Comparing NZ Foods with Malawi Foods

In Extension we were comparing Malawi & NZ foods, like what Malawians and Kiwis eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then we created it into a Menu.

Similarities:
The Similarities are that we both have water and we all have chickens and goats and many Vegetables.

Conclusion:
I conclude that people in Malawi don't have enough nutritious in their foods and also don't have enough clean water. They also don't have as much foods as us. All most everyone in Malawi doesn't have any books for their education that's why I am saving money for them to buy more foods and books.

Immersion Assembly

It was the first day of school and all the teachers did a performance for everybody in assembly. There were 5 teams teaching us what we are learning for term 2. My favourite was team 3, there are learning about the colours that travel with the light in different speeds. Team 4 was for the year 5&6 which was me and there were talking about things that float and why also the were quizzing people on things that sink, out of a stick, paper clip and a marble which do you think will sink?

When it was time for team 3 they went up and talked about the speed of light and colours that travel with it there were all dressed up in different colours there was green, orange, pink, purple, yellow and many more. Mrs Barks was the host she was the person telling everyone what they were doing. She told us which colours absorb and do not absorb into green, black and white I thought it was really interesting.

My Rugby League Game

First the game started and we kicked off to them feeling proud and confident ” Preston was our kicker “ when he kicked everyone chased it like it was 1 million dollars. My position was centre and my winger was Jordan, I was the second to last person on the right corner.

Then we finally got the ball and Maurice broke his arm. It was an epic tragedy. We pass back and forth to try and get a try then finally we pass it down to the other corner and my friend Atunaisa stepped and pass then it came back to him and he scored, it was incredible. Our supporters cheered really loud.

Next It was halftime and we ate oranges and had water with it. Our coach Tyson gave us some feedback and told us to start tackling more and to move up in a line. Thats when Prestons Gran came to us the oranges. It was almost time to go back on so we all put our hands in and said warriors on 3 1, 2, 3 WARRIORS.

Soon later Jordan had sprained his ankle and we scored more. Jordan got hurt because the opponent shoulder charged below his knees. Everyone was furious because that was the second injury but it got better, we started scoring more and more there were many runaways.

Finally the game ended and we won. We were really delighted but humble at the same time. Then we went back to shake their hands and to say thank you for the game. After all that we said our cheers and headed back home to celebrate.

When we won I was so proud and happy even my dad was happy and he is really hard to please. There was stall one player that I was angry at because he kept on swearing at our team but then we won and I was like good luck next year.
