Simple, Compound and Complex Sentences

On a cold night Matt and Carrie had just finish from a hard days work.  Matt the owner of the farm was preparing a nice cup of coffee while Carrie (the daughter) went outside into the barn to check on the pigs as it was her last chore. When suddenly, she heard screaming coming from the mountain. She quickly ran back inside to tell her father Matt, that she had heard someone in trouble on the mountain.

So Carrie and her father Matt rushed to the mountain with a flashlight. When they got there Matt said ”There’s nothing here sweetheart” “but I heard something” Carrie replied. Carrie told her father to be quiet. She felt something slithering on her foot and she jump with fright. Her father had flashed the light to see it was only a tree vine.

She snatched the light and flashed it behind herself. A loud GASP came from her as she found an old tree that was grown into the shape of a man. When she turned back around her father had disappeared. Before she knew it she was being drag closer and closer to the tree. Luckily she still had the flashlight. She shined the light on the thing and caught a glimpse of what looked like a living vine.

Carrie had no weapon, no clue to where her father was and no idea of what to do, before she knew it she was being pulled inside the tree into an underground tunnel. Carrie thought to herself. She had realized where she was because she remembered it from a dream. The day after her mother disappeared. As they sat there in the dark the a very old woman lurked in the shadows. Carrie was frightened for a while until she saw a shiny silver necklace hanging around the woman's neck.

Carrie and her father quickly got up to introduce themselves but the woman had already known who they were.   Her father quickly realised who she was, Carrie had remembered her from her mother's funeral “Aunt Adeline” said Carrie as she rushed to hug her. “Why are you here” commented her father. “I have been guarding the tree of knowledge it is in our family’s honour to protect it”.

“Who was screaming” said Carrie. “It was me” replied Aunt Adeline. She had to get Carrie to come over to the tree so that she could start teaching her about her family’s past. The reason Aunt Adeline stayed here was because of Diana, Carrie's mother. When a guardian dies another is born. Rosie was the next in line.

Over the years Carrie grew and fought off time keepers, Speedsters, monsters and a lot more all to protect the Tree of Knowledge. Until her Aunt died she knew it was time to find her younger cousin Yvonne. It was her turn to train a younger family member, so that the family commitment would carry on for years.

Complex Sentences: Pink
